Meet Jennifer, LCSW
(She/Her/Hers)
I arrive here as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with many years of education and training. I have a background in public health, psychological research, and community organizing. I have experienced a wide range of practice and have worked with folks from various social and cultural backgrounds, ages, and mental health concerns.
I also arrive here as a deep thinker and a big feeler. It’s important to me that each person in my care feels supported in a way that is collaborative, transparent, and sincere. I find this work to be very purposeful and fulfilling for me and I do it with great gratitude for each person that trusts me to support them in this sacred journey.
Liberation as orientation
My scope is always informed and limited by my positionality and experience. I’m a cis-female, able-bodied, multicultural White/Native (Choctaw Nation), social worker. I grew up in Northern California in a low income, blended family with a history of dysfunction. I have experienced upward mobility privileges like higher-education and securing a “professional” middle class job.
Social identities and social power are foundational to our experiences and sense of what it means to be a person. I am constantly unlearning and re-learning how they shape me, including as a therapist and the inherent power that I hold in the relationship to those in my care.
I orient myself towards liberation, because ours is wrapped up in each others. I am rooted in trauma- informed, humanistic, and anti-oppressive approaches. I make it a priority to continually seek out further education, training, and supervision around these. I aim to take a non-judgmental lens and anti-racist actions, be queer and trans affirming, sex positive, promote body trust, and open spiritually.
